Every year since forever () I’ve always made it a point to do something on New Year’s Eve. I didn’t want to be alone or be considered unpopular.

This year I stayed at home with my family and my pup. It was the most chilled out New Year’s Eve. No rushing arounding, no constant messaging from my indecisive friends, no boring boyfriend, no stress. I just had a very grown up evening with lobster spaghetti (I was out of linguine), endless bubbles and a back to back marathon viewing of all 6 seasons of Lost (which I had already started during Christmas).

I find social media is bombarded with these images of everyone’s ‘perfect life’ and when things are going swimmingly well for me I’m not as humble as ‘good kim’ would like me to be! Although in all honesty I need reminders of the good times as I’m a depressive…. However, I’m obsessed with the imperfect! Which is why my New Year’s Eve picture was an imperfect one of a messy bedroom, my beautiful lobster and me on my lonesome. Loner! I hear the popular kids cry! Who give a tiny rat’s arse! I’m a grown up! I like my own company and I don’t need a million Facebook friends to validate myself!

So to continue on the topic of imperfection…. I’m the opposite of OCD – when I see three ornaments in perfect alignment I like to push one in the wrong direction Maybe I don’t believe humans can be perfect or maybe it’s more humane to be imperfect – either way I enjoy the imperfections of life! That is why I post pictures with pimples, without make-up, when my life has been completely ripped apart and when my life is just a bit poo. Because real life isn’t perfect and I think it’s important for us to accept that – especially in a society which teaches us the opposite.

Gluten-Free Chocolate Cake


  • 100g ground almond
  • 100g coconut oil
  • 100g dark chocolate (70% cocoa)
  • 90g sugar
  • 2 tbsp. stevia
  • 2 eggs
  • Sprinkle of flax seeds


  • Heat the oven to 160 degrees
  • Melt the chocolate and coconut oil in a bowl over a pan of gently boiling water and then remove from heat
  • In a separate bowl whisk the eggs until fluffy and bubbly
  • Gently fold the eggs into the chocolate mixture
  • Pour into a brownie tin and sprinkle with flax seeds
  • Bake for 30minutes

Aloe Vera

Aloe Vera Fan!

I use Aloe Vera gel on my skin everyday! I have to wear a lot of make-up during the day - typical occupational hazard! My make-up is frequently re-touched during the day (especially when I'm shooting under the big lights and in the summer when I'm sweating it off) so I need something gentle and soothing at the end of the day - aloe vera gel! I use aloe vera even more in the summer and on holiday as a cooling aftersun. I like the idea of all things natural and I am a complete sucker for 'superfoods'. I use so many natural products and eat so many superfoods I have no idea which ones are actually working! Luckily the cooling feeling of aloe vera on your skin is something you can feel immediately and it's great for calming my blotchy pink inflammed skin. 99.9% natural and so affordable compared to all those expensive creams out there!

How To Use

In the evening I cleanse, tone and rub a little aloe vera on my face - avoid the eye area as it really stings and makes your eyes water. Sometimes I use moisturiser on top of aloe vera but only when my skin is feeling especially dry. Burnt my hand the other day so I used a blob of aloe vera - it took a little while to work but it definitely helped with the pain.


I also stock up the aloe vera drink. My mum use to make it fresh from her aloe vera plants but its a really sticky, messy job and fresh aloe vera has a much more bitter and strong taste. I have to say I don't like the taste but I still drink it everyday. I add a shot of aloe to my morning juice and then it's done!

1) Water – It’s the solution to all my health and beauty issues. I drink at least 2 litres a day and I always drinks 3 litres the day before any modelling shoots. The main issue I have are the dark bags under my eyes – the solution is 3 litres of water the day before. Whether I’m on set, travelling, in a bar with friends – I will always have at least 1 bottle of water with me! I keep a litre of water in my bedroom and living room – this ensures I drink at least 2 litres a day. Lots of water is absolutely essential for good skin. I also making various types of detox water with lemons, limes, blueberries, strawberries, mint, peppermint and cucumber.

2) Green Tea / White Tea / Acai Berry Tea / Peppermint Tea – Kim loves herbal tea. These teas cleanse you from the inside out and are well-known for their antioxidant properties. Green tea is high in caffeine so I only drink it during the day. At home I will brew several pots of tea and at work you will always see me with my travel mug.
Diet – I eat well. I eat everything but in moderation. There have been times where I avoid foods but now I just eat everything. I always have at least 5 portions of fruit and veg – often I’m too busy to easily fit these in the form of meals so I will make them into smoothies and soups. I get full quickly and hungry quickly so I eat many small meals a day. My biggest meals will be during the day (when I’m running around burning those calories) and my lightest meals will be closer to the evening and I avoid eating at all at least 3 hours before bed (although sometimes I’m naughty!).

4) Micellar Water – my only make-up remover. A daily occupational hazard is the amount of make-up I wear on a daily basis. Everything will eventually irritate my skin (even baby wipes!) with the exception of mi-cellar water. So gentle but the most effective make-up remover I have ever used. I currently use L’Oréal Paris Skin Perfection 3 in 1 Purifying Micellar Solution .

5) Exercise! The sweat is great for soft skin and opening up my pores! Exercise is great for the endorphin keeping you mentally happy and positive. Finally exercise is great for your healthy and body! My work schedule makes it really hard to stick a single exercise regime so I have to use a combination! Where possible I walk everywhere and I also do a lot of exercise at home. I follow a number of instagramers who provide at home exercises, healthy recipes and motivation. You can find me on intagram @kimanhlepham. I also like to zumba, climb and dance (salsa). Occasionally I like to go the gym but I rarely have the time and I much prefer social activities.

Water, water, water! – It’s the solution to all my health and beauty issues.  Everyone knows how good water is for you – it’s no secret!  Yet most of us still don’t drink enough water!  Instead we invest in expensive creams and treatments – hoping for a quick, lazy fix!  I was definitely one of those people – but not anymore!  I drink at least 2 litres a day and I always drinks 3 litres of water the day before any modelling shoots.  Eights glasses of water is simply not enough for me!  The main issue I have are the dark bags under my eyes – the solution is 3 litres of water the day before.  Whether I’m on set, travelling or in a bar with friends – I will always have at least 1 bottle of water with me!

Get Into Good Drinking Habits

Make them part of your normal routine:

  • Keep a litre of water everywhere – on your desk at work, in every room in the house, in your fridge and in your bag
  • Have a pint of water when you wake up, after lunch and after dinner
  • Make your water interesting by adding different colourful fruits – detox water!

Detox Water Recipes

I am a big fan of detox water!  Just add your favourite fruit to water -the key is to keep it varied and colourful.  Fresh fruit is always the best but as I’m constantly travelling I need have plenty of frozen fruit stocked up.  In my freezer you will find:

  • Lemons, limes and oranges – sliced thinly and placed in single layers in zip lock bags.  (Great for detox water, add to hot water, add to green tea and great in alcoholic drinks too)
  • Whole blueberries
  • Whole strawberries
  • Mint and peppermint
  • Ginger – sliced thinly and placed in single layers in zip lock bags

Fruit I don’t like to freeze but do like to add to my detox water:

  • Apples
  • Raspberries
  • Cucumber
  • Watermelon
